Calling All Racers and Supporters of Rivermiles.com and this years MR340 race.
In coordination with KC Paddler, SNAP Fitness, and the MR340 Staff, we are having a press and media event to be held at SNAP Fitness on Saturday July 11th from 9am to Noon to celebrate and kick off this years racing season.  It will be an event that gives you a chance to see some of the latest boats provided by KC Paddler, while enjoying free refreshments, prizes, and meeting fellow racers and MR 340 Staff.  You can get tips from MR 340 Veterans and past and present record holders, while trying out the new training ergometers provided by Paddle ONE.

We want the press and media contacts that we are inviting along with photographers to see how much Kansas City has become a center for this amazing sport.  What we want is as many people to attend as possible and create a buzzing atmosphere in preparation for this years MR340 and the new KATY TRAIL 50 ultra marathon, being held on Sept. 12th.

It is only a few hours on
Saturday July 11th, from 9am to noon
roughly, we can go as long we have stories to share, so please come out bring your family and just enjoy.  The address for the SNAP Fitness hosted event is
11172 S. Lone Elm Rd.
Olathe, KS 66061 phone #913-393-0029
, it is basically located at the intersection of College blvd and Lone Elm Rd. across from Olathe Northwest High School.  For all of you coming in from Lawrence it is just 1 mile East of K7 highway and College Blvd exit.

I hope to see as many of you there as can make it, we can talk about our exciting Gritty Fitty race from the week before and see who had the most exciting stories from MR340's past.

Please shoot responses back on who can make it to this forum, so I can get a rough head count for prizes and give aways.

See all of you then.

quote from Travis: "to celebrate and kick off this years racing season."

I got a news flash for you, Travis.  Thanks to Charlie Lockwood, the paddling season kicked off in March in Columbia, Missouri, this year with the Perche Creek race followed two weeks later by the Platte River Challenge!

Dude, did you just come out of hybernation?!!!

Grin

Looking forward to it.

Dan

Dan,

You should know me by now, I live in my own little bubble World!  Where everything is nice and simple, for instance it is a place Where the Royals have a chance at winning the pennant, Where the Chiefs could win a playoff game, Where I could beat West Hansen in a kayak race, Where respectable hard working circus performers were accepted for thier true talents, Where Scott Mansker could beat me in a footrace, Where the Cryptozoology is an actual science, these are just a few of my wishes in the perfect world.

But back to the subject at hand, I actually didn't know about those other two races, I stand corrected, we will celebrate the start of the MR340 racing season on July 11th, so please come out have a good time win some prizes and talk to people who are a little off thier rocker like Dan and I.

Sincerely,

Yeti

Not only did I fall off my rocker in fewer than eight seconds, it ran me over, and broke apart on my head.  I guess that's why I use a drewl cup.

BTW, what's a pennant?   Sad

Looking forward to seeing you again.  Will see you Saturday in that crazy 3-man contraption you're in.  If you three survive that, I'll be amazed.  She'll have one of you strangled by Edwardsville ... that's my race prognostication.

Come on out, everyone!

Dan

Looks like some female sanity is needed at that event  Wink I'll be there, with MR340 merchandise.  So if you place your order and want to pick it up at Snap Fitness on the 11th, let me know.

Yeti/Travis/Dreamer, your perfect world sound like quite the place to be.

Lets not forget that we still were able to capture 2nd place even with the flip and 30 minutes of dumping out the lovely Kaw water out of our boat, and salvaging what we had left of our food and water.

Thanks for a great event!  It was a good opportunity to get some pointers from some of the veteran racers.  Pack light and stay in the boat.  Should be a good race!  Thanks guys!
