COURSE DESCRIPTION: From Bridge 2 Bridge it is approx 4.75 miles. Starte at the Edwardsville boat ramp, paddle approx 1.25 miles down river and go under the I-435 bridge turn around and paddle upriver approx 4.75 miles and go under the K-7 bridge, turn-around and race the final 3.5 miles to the finish at the Edwardsville boat ramp. Ron,
In a different thread, you gave me a perfect excuse to give my wife for doing this bit of fun on a holiday weekend. The chance to scope out the dam and the mandatory portage. I intend to be there. Afterall, somebody has to be last. Wink

Please note that the Bridge2Bridge is now an official fundraiser for the American Red Cross for the tornado victims in Joplin, Missouri.  We will have Mike Herbert, 3 time Olympian  participating  in the race and instructing a paddling clinic afterwards. In addition)...courtesy of Epic Kayaks http://www.epickayaks.com/...we will be auctioning off an Epic Signature Series Hybrid Touring Paddle (length-lock 210-220cm).

As previously noted, there is not an entry fee for this race, however in lieu of an entry fee any donation would be greatly appreciated. Any cash collected at the race will be tallied and a check will be written to the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross will accept credit cards, or checks.  For people donating with the check method, they need to write, “Joplin Disaster Fund” in the memo section.  This will designate the money to the Joplin disaster and ensure that their money will be given just to Joplin. Another important fact to let donators know is, “that for every $1.00, they donate, merchants are matching this donation with $7.00.” So by donating people can really make a difference in helping the disaster victims.

Information for donations' fund: (This is the location they would like the money sent)

Red Cross (Springfield, Missouri Chapter)
1545 North West Bypass
Springfield, MO 65830
Red Cross (Springfield, Missouri Chapter)
phone : 1-417-832-9500

...More to be announced later today.

- - - WATER LEVEL UPDATE - - -

Most recent instantaneous value at DeSoto: 42,100   05-26-2011  13:45 CDT

A couple of days ago the Kaw was sitting around 2,000cfs. Due to the strong storms yesterday, it is currently about 40,000 cfs. In an effort to provide a safe and enjoyable event for all (novice - experienced/recreational - racer) if the water does not recede the event (race/clinic/auction)  will be moved to Lake Olathe. A decision on the alternate location will be announced Friday afternoon.

Water levels can be found at:

Ron,

Hope you get a nice turnout. I wish I could be there for Mike's clinic. The wife made plans a month ago. Any chance someone can video the workshop and make available to the the Rivermiles forum?  Thanks.

Tony...I sent you an e-mail. I will have an Epic V12 and V10 Sport along with Epic small-mid, mid and large-mid wing paddles.

Joe...good idea. I will see what I can do.

Wandering Albatross...striking similarity.

So is the race going to be similar the paddle fest run?  We were going to paddle 9.5 miles which really isn't that far, but I was hoping it would be farther than one lap around the lake .....  ?
